Winter is my favourite time of the year when it comes to fashion and makeup, and following many months of virtual meetings and delayed parties, we are all certainly more than ready to dress our best and look the part this winter, and to me lipsticks play an important role in that.
From matte to glossy, from earth tones to vibrant reds these are the lipstick shades I am wearing in the most wonderful time of the year:
Givenchy Le Rouge Sheer Velvet – Rouge Graine, No. 37
A daring velvety red lipstick that is weightless on the lips yet keeps them nourished. It’s one of my favourite lipsticks as you can make it work in so many ways.
In winter, I’d say it’s best worn with dark outfits and minimalist eye makeup, adding contrast and vibrance to your look.
I am planning on wearing it with brown eyeshadows or dark eyeliners to keep my look clean, contemporary and elegant. And, when I want to create a no-makeup makeup-look, all I need is a light foundation, black mascara and this gorgeous lipstick.
Another great way of wearing this beautiful lipstick, specially for those scared of red lippies, is smudging it a bit and giving your lips that just-kissed look.
In my opinion, this lipstick is beautiful in any season. It’s become a staple in my vanity case.
Rouge Dior 772 Classic Matte
A stunning neutral pinkish shade that feels good on the lips.
I came across this shade when I went shopping for some FW lipsticks, after trying the 772 no other colour seemed as beautiful; since it’s not too warm or red it’s a natural colour that can be used as an everyday lipstick.
It pairs well with pearl satin outfits and other light colours for an elegant and soft look. Great for days out, shopping trips and girls’ brunch.
Rouge Dior Couture Colour Lipstick, Metallic, 525 Chérie
One of Dior’s iconic colours, this creamy, high-pigmented warm shade, lightens-up the complexion.
Ideal for evening occasions to complement black, navy and dark brown outfits; and at daytime, for brunch, it’ll go well with beige, white and camel outfits.
For a stunning makeup look, pair it with eye makeup in brown and terracotta tones.
Giorgio Armani lip power in shade 504 flirtatious
This creamy and long-lasting lipstick by GA is the perfect brown to complement FW neutral outfits.
It goes well with white, beige, black, and even brown outfits for a monochromatic look. And, if you’re not a big fan of red lipsticks, this is a great option to elevate your complexion this winter.
I’m still to find another brown lipstick that complements my skin tone so well as this one, it also has a very creamy and long lasting formulation to keep the lips hydrated in any weather.
This vibrant, nourishing satin red lipstick with a pink undertone, suits all skin and can be used all year around, not only FW.
In my opinion, it’s a lipstick that every classy woman should have in their makeup kit. Not only it has a stunning shade, Guerlain’s Rouge G lipstick cases are a work of art, and they are refillable – it’s more than a lipstick, it’s an accessory.
I would wear this in day time, when I want a French make up look, or for a date night — I find it very versatile and a beautiful and elegant touch for a makeup look.
MAC’s retro matte lipstick in Ruby Woo
Ruby Woo is MAC’s most iconic red lipstick; the perfect tone of red and perfect matte finish; not too warm or cool, neither too orange or pink — it looks great on all skin tones.
When elegance is on order, this lipstick is the one to go for; it’s a great choice for special occasions and the festivity season.
Rosso Valentino Matte in 110R Sweet Pastel
A gorgeous neutral pink which suits those with cool undertones beautiful; it has a non-drying soft matte finish and comes in refillable red case.
I will be pairing it with a pink blush for a brighter and monochromatic makeup look; and, for a more dramatic look, it’ll go well with black or brown eyeliners.
As per matching it with outfits, its blue undertone works well with navy, cool brown, purple, grape, dark green, berry and fuchsia outfits.
The 174 Rouge Angélique by Chanel, has a hydrating and luminous formulation, ideal for days when you feel like keeping makeup to a minimum but still glowy.
Its warm light-medium brown shade is well complemented by blushers in peach tones, creamy bronzers, and brown, camel and gold eye-makeup.
Dior Addict Lip Maximizer 103 Pure Gold
Ready to shine like a star, with the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in Plum (26), a lip gloss containing hyaluronic acid, that delivers hydration, glow and volume to the lips?
It pairs well with matte plum, rosewood eyeshadows and pearly finishes; These shades are great for both subtle and dramatic monochromatic looks where the eye makeup is the centre-focus of the look.
Dior Addict lip maximizer collection has beautiful shades; having purchased a few myself, I love wearing them on their own or as a combo with other lippies and lip liners.
