If, like me, you have sensitive skin you know how difficult it can be to find the right products to create a skincare-routine that won’t get your face red, itchy, irritated or inflamed.   Having sensitive skin myself, I can relate to the challenges, and I have learned a thing or two about products that can help you when looking to buy skincare products that won’t harm your skin, but instead will shield it and keep it moisturised.   Although what works for me may not work for every type of sensitive skin and condition, a useful rule of thumb is to look for products with formulas that are fragrance-free, paraben-free and animal cruelty free.   Avene   Avene’s products are specifically formulated for hypersensitive skin so their products can help soothe and calm sensitive skin.   Avène Gentle Toner for Sensitive Skin is a gentle toner formulated for dry and very dry sensitive skin, to protect the skin’s natural barrier;  It leaves the skin feeling very soft and protects it from environmental aggressors.   Avène Thermal Spring Water is a facial spray that soothes and softens skin with the healing properties, with only one ingredient in it – Avène Thermal Spring Water. I find it especially helpful on hot days when the skin is a bit dry, or even when it’s irritated as the water refreshes and calms the skin.   Uriage   It may not be one of the most famous French skincare brands but it certainly deserves great recognition for its high-tech skincare products designed to preserve skin’s health.    Uriage Thermal Water – is a protective Water soothing and moisturizing, rich in minerals, reinforcing the barrier of the skin. Similar to Avène’s thermal water, it moisturise, protects and soothes skin, it’s also great for fixing make-up, after sports, etc.   Xémose – Lipid-Replenishing Anti-Irritation Cream – Ideal for face and body, this nourishing, protective cream instantly soothes itching sensations that cause scratching due to dryness and brings long-lasting comfort.   La Roche Posay   La Roche Posay is one of the most famous and beloved French pharmacy brands, with products designed for ultra-sensitive skin and suitable for allergy-prone skin, it has product ranges for all skin concerns.    La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Sun Protection Invisible SPF50+ Face Mist – with a light and invisible finish, this sunscreen is great for applying after make-up.    As someone who likes applying SPF twice a day, I find this perfect, especially when I am wearing make-up.   Eucerin   In my view, this is the most underrated French skincare brand; it has incredibly nourishing and healing ingredients for sensitive skin and to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations.   Eucerin Urea Repair Plus 5% Hand Cream is by far the best hand-cream I’ve ever used; hands feel silky and protected with this cream.   For those who have very dry and chapped hands this is  a miracle working cream – it’ll sooth, smooth & soften the skin   It has been a game-changer in my skincare routine, It’s the one product that I take everywhere with me and that I trust; I love it so much that I’ve given it to friends and family members because it’s the best hand-cream in the market, without a doubt.

Eucerin Aquaphor Ointment Body Spray

This cooling-spray  immediately soothes and relieves dry to very dry. I love applying it on my body during winter to keep it hydrated and also on my face to complete my skincare routine and lock moisture on recovery nights.
SkinCeuticals   SkinCeuticals has an array of products suitable for sensitive skin, which means they won’t irritate your skin.  And you can easily find products that will suit your sensitive skin by searching on their website by skin concern: sensitive & redness prone skin.   Although their products are not all formulated for sensitive skin, I have used a few of them and have seen great results, with no sensitivity to any of the products I’ve tried so far.   C E Ferulic vitamin C antioxidant serum for visible signs of ageing   This is a daytime antioxidant serum that improves signs of aging and photodamage; helping reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the loss of firmness, while brightening skin’s complexion.   It’s my go-to vitamin C serum; it has a high price tag however it’s worth every penny and suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.   Ultra Facial Defense SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen   With a lightweight formula, this sunscreen protects skin from UVA and UVB ray, leaving the skin moisturised but not sticky. Another SkinCeuticals product I can’t live without, nothing works better under makeup than this sunscreen.   Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2   This anti-aging face cream is one of the best in the market; its nourishing formula makes it a great option for someone with dry skin who is also concerned about their fine lines and wrinkles.   I found this product very efficient in reducing fine lines, restoring smoothness, protecting and hydrating my skin.    Antioxidant lip repair – it’s a lip treatment with antioxidants that help restore damaged lips surface; Since wearing it for the first time I’ve noticed a huge difference on my lips, they don’t get dry as much as they used to, and lips feel soft and shielded, without feeling sticky. Apply it every night before bed and after brushing your teeth.   I could name a few other SkinCeuticals products but I recommend you to take a look at their product range and see what products best suit your skin concerns. And if you have any questions you want to ask me, DM me on Instagram.   Murad   Murad was the first skincare brand I fell in love with; when I was in my late 20s it helped me deal with acne and bring health back to my skin.   The brand was created by a dermatologist and pharmacist named Dr. Howard Murad in 1989, making it one of the first skin-care lines founded by a doctor; What I love about it is that it carries a product range for every concern, and they’ve been doing that for years, always carrying about people.    I have tried many of Murad’s products throughout my adulthood and love them all, but I do have some favourites which are gentle to my skin, whilst being effective in addressing skin concerns, including blemishes, acne, dark spots, fine lines and so forth.    Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum   Having very sensitive skin around the eye area I’m always concerned about trying new eye-creams, so when I first came across this cream I tried it with much caution and to my surprise it was very gentle to the thin skin around my eyes.   It gives the eye area a beautiful glow, at the same time as nourishment and, a little goes a long way.    Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum   This serum packed full with vitamin C and glycolic acid is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent visible skin damage like hyperpigmentation, dullness and uneven tone, by removing dead cells, revealing a more radiant skin. Gladly, it’s suitable for sensitive skin so you don’t need to worry about skin irritation.    Essential-C cleanser   This face cleanser is ideal for someone who has oily or acne prone skin but even if you have dry skin it’ll be gentle on your skin. I used it in my late 20s and wear it in my 40s and still does wonders to my skin.   I also want to mention that Murad also makes it easy for us to shop by skin concern on their website and points out products that will be safe for those with sensitive skin. It is a skincare brand that I trust fully because their products are incredible and deal efficiently with skin concerns.   My one piece of advice with any skincare products, is to do a test, and avoid mixing too many active ingredients. And when it comes to retinols, if you have sensitive skin, start slow.   For regular skincare products recommendations and updates, follow me on Instagram and TikTok.
